The Honeymoon Suite
is a contemporary art collective based in Dunedin. The Suite is
committed to the development of art initiatives, that engage contemporary social issues
within both national and international art discourses.
The Honeymoon Suite provides facilitation of, and a space for,
progressive art projects: exhibitions, performances, film & video screenings, and touring
shows, by artists from New Zealand and abroad.
In addition to our standard two-week exhibition format we are also
interested in one off events, performance, film screenings, etc.

We can also assist in the administration of projects
that fall outside our regular gallery programme or utilise venues other than
 the gallery space. |
The Honeymoon Suite also have a website that can be utilised by artists
and curators.
 This site is |
available for specific Internet works, or
as a digital component of shows in our physical gallery space.

The Honeymoon Suite actively seeks exhibition and project proposals from
artists and curators.

Proposals should include:
- an outline of the project
- a clear account of what form the project will take, what equipment will be
required and what logistical problems are anticipated
 |
  |
- a brief curriculum vitae (include previous exhibitions, reviews, publications)
- documentation of previous work (slides and photographs both ok)

Promotion
The Suite can provide a mailing list, but the production and distribution of
invitations / posters is the responsibility of the exhibitor. We are also able to assist
with design work and layout of promotional material.
The Honeymoon Suite notifies local and national print media, radio and television of
upcoming events and exhibitions.

Exhibition duration / opening hours
Standard exhibition length is two weeks (Wednesday
to Saturday), but The Honeymoon Suite is flexible regarding shorter or longer projects.
Regular gallery hours are 11.00 - 5.30 Wednesday to Friday, and 11.00 - 4.00 Saturday.
Gallery co-ordinators can supervise the space during regular gallery hours, although it
is appreciated if artists are able to assist with the supervision of their show.

Audience
Since opening, our strongest audience has consisted of local artists, critics,
writers, and art/s students. The Honeymoon Suite also attracts a more general public
audience because of its central location and proximity to the Public Art Gallery,
dealer galleries, cafes etc.

Exhibition costs
The cost of a standard two-week show is $160, which includes rental of
the space and power. A deposit of $20 will secure an show, and must be paid at least two
weeks prior to the exhibition. The balance is to be paid prior to the installation of
the show. It is our aim as a non-profit artist-run space to keep exhibitors costs to a
minimum.
Exhibitors are free to offer their work for sale; The Honeymoon Suite will take no
commission from these sales.

Project Installation
 |
The project installation time is the Sunday - Tuesday prior to an exhibition. The
Honeymoon Suite can assist with installation and organisation but it is expected that it
will be the responsibility of the artist. All work must be removed immediately after
closing on Saturday and the space returned to it’s original condition, unless other
arrangements are made. All repainting and retouching is the responsibility of the artist.

Transportation of work to and from the gallery must be arranged by the artist.

The Honeymoon Suite can supply paint and filler for touch ups, and is building a small
supply of tools, nails screws, cleaning products etc. We can also assist with sourcing
of audio-visual equipment.
 |

 |
 Damage of work
Unfortunately The Honeymoon Suite is unable to take responsibility for
the loss or damage of any artworks. As a small not-for-profit organisation we cannot
provide insurance cover for gallery contents.

 |

Openings
Usually openings are on the Tuesday evening preceding the exhibition, but the exact date
and time of the function is up to the artist. The Honeymoon Suite can assist with
organisation of an opening function, but all costs must be met by the exhibitor.
